Chapter Four

E.V.I.L.

Celine and Linda had finally left the police station. They gave a description of the shady shoe store worker. An officer was now to follow the girls around so if they were found guilty they wouldn't escape. "How will we get to school?" asked Celine. The officer pointed to the police car. "Can I drive?" The officers eyes shot open and violently shook his head sideways. They got in the car and drove away.

In the hospital a young man approached Lacy. "Lacy?" asked the boy. He was dressed in hospital robes so Lacy knew he was a patient. "Do you remember me?" The boy took a seat next to Lacy. Her eyes watched him

"Let me think..." Lacy couldn't remember the pale face of his. Her tears on her face dried up, leaving her cheeks red for crying by someone she apparently knew. "Nope...nothing."

The boy slacked in the chair further. "I'm Ricky Mecredi. I used to live by your old house on Minnie Street." Lacy looked back into her memory. All of a sudden she could see Ricky and her playing ball in the streets two years ago.

"Yes, I remember now." She leaned back in her chair in interest. "It's been forever..so how's it been?"

Ricky took a moment to respond. "Well..." Lacy knew there was some bad news coming. "Nothing really has happened until I checked into here." Before Lacy could ask why he was checked into the hospital Ricky answered. "I have a rare disease. I'm not sure what it does, but doctors urged and nearly threatened me to stay here for study. And that's what I did."

Lacy still didn't seem satisfied. "How long have you been here?"

"Only a few months. I should be out soon. Rumor has it they have a cure! So what have you been up to?" Both of them were exhilarated to have reunited and have a chance to catch up.

"Nothing here. But today is the first day of school and I'm missing it." Now, Lacy answered Rick's questions before he could ask them. "Today, when walking to school, I found my ex-boyfriend. He was passed out. So eventually I got him to the hospital from a ride of my friends. I found out he moved on and I'm sad, but still worried about him."

"Who is it?" pondered Ricky.

"Sam Tribular. Here's a picture." Lacy passed the picture to Ricky. He examined it for about a minute.

"You look different here. Is it even you?"

Lacy nodded. "When we broke up I changed my looks. I still love him though. But now..."

Rick and Lacy both got out of the lobby chairs. "Well I should get going. I'm going to visit you every now and then." Lacy hugged Rick quickly. Ricky blushed.

"Yeah. See you around. Good luck with Sam."

"Good luck with the disease," Lacy waved and walked away. Catching up was one of two things that would cheer her up. The other was her getting back together with Sam, but she knew it would be a while.

Back at school David and Becky were at their assigned room. They sat in the front row to avoid noisy students. About fifty students were finding seats around their friends. "Hey it's that kid." told David to Becky. It was the kid from the assembly escorted out walking down the hallway with a smile on his face. "Doesn't he have to come here? I'm pretty sure he's in our grade."

"Who knows? We'll find out when they call names for schedules!" exclaimed Becky.

"But I don't know his name," responded David, Becky looked towards the ground. She didn't know it her by her depressed look. "Cheer up! We are good this year." reminded David.

Finally at school were Celine and Linda. The officer told them to go to the office to figure everything out. The three of them sorted things out with the principal. The day would be normal for the, besides having a cop watching their every move, except when they had to go to the bathroom.

While they walked to class, Celine accidently dropped her purse. She started to go down to retrieve it, but she realized she had deceived servants. A younger boy walked by. It was the kid with the gun. "Hey, sugar, you mind getting that for me?" teased Celine. Linda was used to this, but the officer seemed a little surprised by he actions.

"Screw you! Or is that too big a sentence for a bitch like you," said the boy, even realizing the officer was standing near by. Obviously, the police officer was pleased as well as a smile arose in his usually stern face. The boy stormed off as Celine angrily stared at him, finally picked up her purse.

"What is his name?" asked Celine to Linda for note. She wanted to ruin his life after being embarrassed like that. Luckily no other people were around when it happened, only in the minds of a cop, boy, and two preps.

"Don't know," replied Linda. They continued walking to class, even though they were still perplexed at what had just happened.

Little did they know how much impact that little accident made. The boy, realizing the cop was at school was frightened. His goal was ruined. He wondered how he could be found out. He had given people who were aware of his plan a sense of security by being escorted out of the gym. It may have seemed to them like he'd been caught, but more simply released. He forged a note from his mother to let him get a locker away from those who picked on him. To seem less suspicious he had a friend carry out the plan. The friend left the note in the office, but watching for Henry who knew the plan stayed there. Eventually Henry left a note on the secretary's desk about the plan. The friend realized this plan of Henry's and discarded the note. The secretary had gone out for a quick errand so nothing was noticed. The boy, now, was confused on how things were found. He knew Henry wanted to remain anonymous about telling for protection so he wouldn't have gone to authorities, but they were in school. Soon realizing his plan was destroyed his new problem was getting his friend to abort the plan. Otherwise, he'd be doomed. "Respect comes another day. For now, annihilation of annihilating is the goal," muttered the boy, finally deciding on a teal locker on the far end with only one person that could possibly annoy him as there was only one locked next to him.

After searching all the roadways the Tribular parents weren't pleased. Sam was somewhere and they didn't know where. After trying the phone, Mark realized it wouldn't work due to expired minutes. "Okay..." said Mark. "How about I go into the hospital. I'll find the doctor and find out if things would be okay with Sam not on the pills. If not we'll go to the school and see if he isn't there. Deal?" Mrs. Tribular sadly nodded.

At the hospital, Lacy approached Jake just outside of where Sam was lying. Lacy could feel more tension. The undying static in the air left Lacy in a daze. She couldn't' believe any of this was actually happening. Jake seemed to fell it too by the expression on his face. Jake threw his arms around Lacy. Lacy confused on why he had done so, hugged him back. "I'm sorry..." whispered Jacob.

Lacy thought she knew what he meant by saying sorry, but she was wrong. "How?" she asked, beginning to choke up. "It didn't seem that bad." Jake seemed confused.

"What? No! No!" Jake let go of her and stumbled back. "He ain't gone! I meant for not being there for you. It must be bad to go through all this in a day, but I should've brought you back to reality. We're missing school and just imagine people that realize we aren't at school!" Jake offered Lacy a seat outside Sam's room.

"I know. I'm fine now. How...is he though?" Lacy replied.

"Well, we got Sam into ER and all doctors told us is he'd be here a little while so they put him in a room. They are all pulling up his medical records as we speak to figure out what may have happened.

Lacy was somewhat relieved. "Well you know... I didn't go see my uncle," admitted Lacy. "I needed time alone and then I ran into an old friend. We caught up so I'm feeling better now. Don't worry about me. Worry about Sam. He needs it."

Lacy smiled. Time had already passed an hour and a half since Lacy left home. "I hope we get to school sometime."

"Me too. Plus I need to get rid of these floppy disks," said Jake pointing to his backpack next to his chair.

Assumptions, they shouldn't be made. By assuming a life can be lost. Assuming can confuse others. Very rarely may assuming save a life. As you've seen, assuming will lose on ein the long run. By thinking the boy was caught he would save the shooting for another day which would mean there would be no cop near by to save a life. For Lacy, assuming what Jake meant by saying sorry she got not only her, but Jake confused. Within that time to settle the confusion something better can be accomplished. Assumptions create disaster. And due to the unknown things in life people assume.
Sorry it took so long to get up. I'm typing up five right now. I'm working on writing chapter seven on paper as well... Toodles..haha
